Reading the terms and conditions of use, one can see that with this product, Google has unilateraly removed your First Sale rights and imposed various other draconian restrictions, something which is doubtful it even has the legal right to do, depending on which country you live in. Google's motto to "not be evil" has once again been proven to be a sham.
First up, we have a quantity restriction in the Restrictions section, where the customer cannot purchase more than a predetermined number at any one time:
You may not order more than the maximum number of Devices that we specify from time to time.
This inconvenience is the least of your worries however, since once you've paid an eye watering $1500 for them, you're subjected to much more draconian restrictions for Glass Explorer Edition, which appear in the Addendum section of the agreement:
Unless otherwise authorized by Google, you may only purchase one Device, and you may not resell, loan, transfer, or give your Device to any other person. If you resell, loan, transfer, or give your device to any other person without Google’s authorization, Google reserves the right to deactivate the Device, and neither you nor the unauthorized person using the Device will be entitled to any refund, product support, or product warranty.
Yes, so cross a very unreasonable line and Big Brother Google will actually deactivate them permanently and with no recourse! How does Google have the right to say you can't sell them on? Whatever happened to the First Sale doctrine? I tend to doubt that this would stand up in court. Notice that, weirdly, you're not allowed to buy more than Glass at a time, either.
Also, a free Google Wallet account is required to buy Glass and to receive after sales support, another restriction:
To place an order, you must have a Google Wallet account. You may also need to maintain a Google Wallet account to receive after sales support. A Google Wallet account is free and if you do not have one you will be directed to Google Wallet before you can checkout. Your use of Google Wallet is subject to the Google Wallet Terms of Service. If you do not agree to the Google Wallet Terms of Service you should not submit an order.
These glasses cost an eye watering $1500, so for that kind of money, I think it's worth spending that on something else - anything else. Even if they cost just a dollar, it's the principle here that's important, so this product should be boycotted at all costs in my view. Not doing so, only encourages Google and other companies to increasingly sell products with these insane restrictions.
